Extensive construction work will include renovation of 4.5 km of road, the replacement of the existing bridge with a new one, the construction of a 1.1 km motorway diversion, the construction of a new toll station and the demolition of the existing one, the establishment of a new police checkpoint, and the installation of modern electrical and mechanical equipment in the tunnel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This investment is an important step towards improving the transport infrastructure on one of the key transport corridors in Slovenia, the Karavanke Tunnel, a border tunnel between Slovenia and Austria. The Karavanke Tunnel is part of the pan-European transport network TEN-T and the forthcoming renovation of the existing tube will help significantly improve both flow throughput and road safety. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The project will be implemented under priority Sustainable (cross-)regional mobility and connectivity of Slovenia&#8217;s EU Cohesion Policy Programme 2021-2027.
