How to apply for a residence status, find employment, enrol in an education programme or access healthcare are among the many challenges immigrants face when adapting to a new environment. In its Action Plan on Integration and Inclusion 2021\u20132027<\/a>, the EU highlights the importance of removing barriers and creating the conditions necessary for independent participation in society. The Plan recognises integration as a two-way process requiring the active involvement of both immigrants and host communities, while emphasising the importance of access to information, advisory services and intercultural dialogue. <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

In Slovenia, these objectives are being implemented with support from the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund (AMIF). The Ministry of the Interior and Public Administration approved \u20ac547,000 in AMIF funding for a project worth nearly \u20ac729,000 to support the establishment of an information centre for immigrants. The project is implemented by the funding beneficiary, the Government Office for the Support and Integration of Migrants. <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

The information centre for immigrants provides information and advisory services to support migrants in addressing everyday challenges and managing key aspects of life independently. The centre also fosters intercultural dialogue. In addition to providing personalised guidance on residence status procedures and information about the rights and obligations, a wide range of resources is available on the multilingual online portal InfoTujci<\/a>. Educational activities provided by the centre help migrants better understand administrative procedures, access relevant information independently and navigate everyday matters with greater confidence. The centre also organises events aimed at promoting cultural diversity, encouraging intercultural exchange and strengthening connections between migrants and the local population. <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Current activities already include a series of educational programmes launched at the information centre in October. Participants can receive practical guidance on everyday matters and obtain answers to their questions in their mother tongue. The sessions are delivered in Bosnian\/Serbian, Albanian and Ukrainian and cover a wide range of topics, including employment, health and social insurance, Slovenian culture, and the housing market.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Educational programmes will equip migrants with the knowledge and skills needed to better understand their rights and obligations, navigate everyday challenges independently, and promote their social inclusion and integration into Slovenian society.
