The five-year project of the Art Cinema Network of Slovenia (AKMS), called Elementary Film School, has continuously and systematically strengthened the competencies of professionals in educational institutions and film creators through professional training and the Film School website.<\/em><\/a>
The project established a dialogue between the educational and cultural sectors and young cultural workers, and through the exchange of experiences, developed innovative learning environments and flexible forms of learning, which improved the quality of film education programmes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Through professional training programmes and its website, Elementary Film School has increased access to film education content and raised awareness throughout Slovenia, particularly outside major urban centres, where access to film education programmes is limited. The content of the professional training programme and the website was actively co-created by elementary school professionals, who expressed their needs and wishes in ongoing evaluations. After the first year of professional training, it was decided that, starting with the 2018\/2019 school year, the training would be thematically aligned with the curriculum of the elective course Film Education in elementary schools for the next three years, thereby also providing support to the professionals teaching the elective course. In the 2020\/2021 school year, as many as 132 elementary schools offered the elective course Film Education, and 80% of the schools that offered it were included in the Elementary Film School project. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A total of 1,341 educators from 280 different elementary schools participated in the Elementary Film School project, exceeding the short-term impact projected in the application (480 educators from 160 different elementary schools). 203 of the schools that joined the project were located in smaller towns. The project involved 51 cultural institutions in the field of film, as well as 54 creators, 26 of whom were under 35 when they joined. The project also included 15 students from five higher education institutions that include film in their curriculum. <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n
