The project allowed high school students to learn more about EU-funded projects. It will keep its focus on raising awareness amoung young people of the importance of EU funding and its impact on local communities.
Last year, the project saw tremendous success and was received with enthusiasm by students, teachers and the public alike. It allowed students to gain valuable experience and fostered cross-curricular skills, such as critical thinking, problem solving, communication and interpersonal skills.
This year, we intend to upgrade the project. Secondary schools form across Slovenia will be able to participate and monitor the selected EU-funded projects. Students will explore, analyse and report about the impact of these projects on local communities. Thus, they will gain a better understanding of EU cohesion policy and its role in daily lives of EU citizens.
At the School of Open Cohesion is an incredible opportunity for young people as it allows them to actively participate in the processes that shape the development of their environment. At the same time, young people gain knowledge and experience that will help them navigate the ever-changing future. As they become part of the project, they realise how important EU funding is for each member state. This is how the project promotes active citizenship.
An info day was held on 27 June 2024 for all interested secondary schools. The participants got to know more about the project, its goals and activities. They met with seasoned mentors who took part in the project last year. The info day was an excellent opportunity for sharing experience and getting the needed information. It was also a place for finding inspiration for future participation.
We would like to invite all secondary schools to apply and take part in the project in the coming school year. Together, we will keep building bridges between young people and EU-funded projects while contributing to sustainable development of our society. You can apply by 10 July 2024.
