EU funding for a more efficient procurement system

Ljubljana, 9 August 2024 – The Ministry of Cohesion and Regional Development has approved EU funding for the project Strengthening the professionalisation of public procurement.

As part of this EU-funded project, the Public Procurement Directorate at the Ministry of Public Administration will work to improve the capability level of the public procurement staff. To this end, it will carry out a training program called Public Procurement Academy and a series of specialised conferences and other capacity building activities. The project will provide users with support and assistance in all stages of procurement procedures. This support and assistance will later be upgraded into a procurement support centre. Additionally, new modalities will be developed for the e-JN information system. This is is a nation-wide procurement system supporting the management of procurement procedures which both contracting authorities and economic operators use. The said activities will make the work of procurement practitioners more efficient and effective. The project will also result in higher levels of competition in procurement procedures in Slovenian market, better implementation of procedures and better performance of contracts.

The project will be implemented under priority Skills and responsive labour market of Slovenia’s EU Cohesion Policy Programme 2021-2027. It will pursue specific objective Promoting lifelong learning, in particular flexible upskilling and reskilling opportunities for all taking into account entrepreneurial and digital skills, better anticipating change and new skills requirements based on labour market needs, facilitating career transitions and promoting professional mobility.

The project is worth a total of 2,055,784.80 euros; it will receive 1,747,417.08 euros, which is 85%, from the European Social Fund Plus.
