On Thursday, 10 October 2024, the EU Funds Travelling Office visited the Podravje region, more specifically, the Vetrinjski dvor court in Maribor.
The opening speeches were delivered by the State Secretary at the Ministry of Cohesion and Regional Development, Srečko Đurov, and the Vice Mayor of the Municipality of Maribor, Dr Samo Peter Medved. Then, Boris Keuc, Head of the Regional Development Department at the Regional Development Agency for Podravje – Maribor, presented the challenges and objectives of the Podravje region.
The following presentations were made on EU co-financing opportunities:
Borut Megla: Opportunities of European Cohesion Policy 2021-2027,
Alenka Marovt Novak, Acting Director of the Directorate for Development Funds: Development Incentives of the Ministry of the Economy, Tourism and Sport,
Marjeta Jerič: LEADER/CLLD opportunities,
Borut Kosi: Opportunities in aquaculture,
Mojca Muršec: Opportunities of the Interreg Slovenia-Austria cross-border programme and
mag. Jasmina Litrop: Opportunities of the Interreg Slovenia-Hungary cross-border programme.
As is a common practice at every Travelling Office, we learned about good practices supported by EU funds. The Vice Mayor of the Municipality of Maribor, Dr Samo Peter Medved, presented the revitalisation of the degraded Lent area, which consisted of four independent but linked projects. Given the remarkable impact it had on improving the quality of life of its citizens, this project won the Best EU Project prize. On this occasion, State Secretary Srečko Đurov presented a plaque to the Vice Mayor of Maribor.
