EU funding for the renovation of the Narodni dom building (cultural centre)

Ljubljana, 26 September 2025 – The Ministry of Cohesion and Regional Development has approved EU funding for the project Renovation of the Narodni dom building (cultural centre).

As part of the EU-funded project, Urban Municipality Novo mesto will renovate the Narodni dom building (cultural centre) located in the city’s historical centre. Novo mesto will thus preserve the building, which is not only a cultural heritage site but also a building of national importance and introduce new cultural and artistic content. The investment will result in the city providing high-quality spaces for the activities of the Novo mesto cultural non-governmental organisations and artists, as well as the organisation of a broad spectrum of cultural, arts and social events. The renovated building will thus help revive the appearance of the historical centre of Novo mesto.

The project is implemented under Slovenia’s EU Cohesion Policy Programme 2021-2027, priority Sustainable development of local areas and pursues the specific objective Fostering the integrated and inclusive social, economic and environmental development, culture, natural heritage, sustainable tourism, and security in urban areas.

The bulk of the funding for the project, worth €4,002,626.76, will come from the European Regional Development Fund, i.e. €2,422,500.
