The European Commission has launched a call for proposals to support projects in the areas of digital investigations and standardisation. A total of €6.5 million is made available under the Internal Security Fund to co-finance selected projects.
€5 million will be allocated to selected projects on digital investigations and a further €1.5 million will support projects aimed at the standardisation of data formats and communication protocols.
In the field of countering cybercrime and supporting digital investigations, the selected projects should help:
Projects in the field of standardisation should aim to ensure that future technologies allow lawful access to data and that security solutions are interoperable and compatible with EU rules. This is especially important for digital evidence, where common data formats and communication systems can help law enforcement and the judiciary to request and handle information more quickly and efficiently. It is also important that standards for key technologies, including artificial intelligence, take account of the specific needs of law enforcement.
The maximum EU contribution per project ranges between €1 million and €2.5 million for projects on digital investigations and must not exceed €1.5 million for projects on standardisation.
The application deadline is 15 December 2026.
More information about the call is available on the portal EU Funding & Tenders.
