Integrated Territorial Investments

Sustainable Integrated Territorial Investments are a Cohesion Policy tool that can be used to implement sustainable urban development and other territorial strategies. Sustainable urban development builds on territorial development strategies and supports territorial development, focusing particularly on urban municipalities, to address economic, environmental, climate, demographic and social challenges. In this context, special attention will be put on tackling environmental and climate challenges, in particular the transition to a climate-neutral economy by 2050, leveraging the potential of digital technologies for innovation, fostering the revitalisation of urban areas (social and economic redevelopment) and supporting the development of urban areas.

Investments in sustainable urban development will be carried out in the 12 urban municipalities in Slovenia (Ljubljana, Maribor, Koper, Kranj, Celje, Novo mesto, Velenje, Nova Gorica, Ptuj, Murska Sobota, Slovenj Gradec and Krško) with the funding provided through the ITI mechanism. Support will thus be provided for the investments contributing most to the achievement of the objectives of sustainable urban strategies of urban municipalities as well as the objectives and indicators of Slovenia’s EU Cohesion Policy Programme 2021-2027.
