Interreg Central Europe Programme has preannounced its next and final call, i.e. strategic call for capitalisation. The Programme invites organisations from across central Europe to submit transnational cooperation ideas for strategic projects for capitalisation.
Central Europe is a complex functional area characterised not only by geographic proximity but also by spatial interactions and functional linkages in various sectors of economy, governance and public policies. Fifteen national borders and many internal ones hinder functional linkages among regions and, overall, the development of central European regions. Effects of borders are tackled locally by several Interreg cross-border programmes. Transnational projects under the call should take up outputs and results or solutions offered by both Interreg Central Europe programme and cross-border programmes to meet existing and new needs and strengthen their territorial and policy impact in wider areas, also beyond border regions. They must go beyond a mere pooling or duplication of what already exists. Instead, they should further develop, improve, or adapt existing outputs and results by drawing on the experience of more projects. More information about the call is available on the dedicated programme website.
The call comes with an indicative ERDF budget of 23 million euros. More information about the application process and the eligibility criteria will be available at the launch of the call, on 29 September 2025.
To get started, the Programme invites potential applicants to join the platform “Applicant community” that will help them connect with potential partners, arrange a meeting with the Joint Secretariat or check the event calendar. Another networking opportunity will be a conference organised on 27 May in Vienna. The event will gather the wider Interreg community to discuss how to strengthen the impact of Interreg funding and introduce the key features of the upcoming strategic call for the capitalisation of project results. You can check draft conference agenda and register for the event here. The Ministry of Cohesion and Regional Development will hold a national information event in the autumn 2025.
