Ljubljana, 19 January 2026 – The Ministry of Cohesion and Regional Development has approved EU funding for the call for proposals Developing competence and innovative approaches for managing dementia. The call will make €2.7 million available and will receive nearly €1.7 million from the European Social Fund Plus.

The call for proposals will support the projects fostering the implementation of educational programmes, providing training and supporting the development of pilot innovative approaches to managing dementia. Activities will be carried out in three areas, i.e.: development of professional competence in healthcare, development of competence for dementia care in dementia-friendly settings and implementation of innovative approaches for a more efficient dementia care. The project will result in new cooperation models, educational materials and resources and upgraded network of support providers.

The call for proposals will be implemented in the framework of Slovenia’s EU Cohesion Policy Programme 2021-2027 under priority Long-term care and health, and social inclusion. It will receive co-financing from the European Social Fund Plus.
The call will make €2,700,000 available, of which €1,698,799.50 in European Social Fund Plus support and €1,001,200.50 in national contribution.
