EU funding for learning the Slovenian language and getting to know our society

Ljubljana, 3 March 2025 – The Ministry of the Interior, acting as the Managing Authority for EU funds in the field of internal affairs, has approved the project Slovenian language courses and examinations.

Government Office for the Support and Integration of Migrants has begun with the implementation of the project Slovenian language courses and examinations, which is co-funded with the EU Asylum Migration and Integration Fund resources.

The courses, which are part of the publicly valid Initial Integration of Immigrants Programme, are aimed at people coming from third countries and persons with international protection, as well as individuals with temporary protection status in accordance with a government regulation. Learning the Slovenian language and getting to know our society are one of the most important building blocks for the successful integration of foreigners into our environment, labour market or further education.

Government Office for the Support and Integration of Migrants expects that at least 10,000 people will participate in the Slovenian language course, and approximately 1,400 people will benefit from the free first Slovenian language exam.

The project, worth 6,917,000.00 euros, is co-financed by the EU Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund in the amount of 5,187,750.00 euros.
