As part of the EU co-funded project, Urban Municipality of Kranj will reconstruct and upgrade the transport infrastructure in the Savska cesta Road area in Kranj from the intersection with the Smledniška cesta Road all the way to Savska loka. The investment covers the construction of 1.58 kilometres of pedestrian infrastructure, 1.26 kilometres of cycle infrastructure and the construction of public passenger transport (three new bus stations), as well as the construction of a new bridge across the Sava River as a single bridge for motorised traffic, pedestrians and cyclists. As part of the project, the municipality will use the EU funding to arrange public lighting and urban facilities, and for greening the area, setting up supporting and retaining walls along the Savska cesta Road, road drainage, and water supply and telecommunications network.
The project Integrated improvement of the Savska cesta Road is part of Slovenia’s EU Cohesion Policy Programme 2021-2027. It is implemented under priority Sustainable mobility and pursues specific objective Sustainable urban mobility.
The European Regional Development Fund will contribute 664,137.75 euros for the project worth 8,627,758.63 euros.
