Young students taking part in the At the School of Open Cohesion project have embarked on a dedicated research and monitoring mission with the goal of exploring local EU-funded projects. The At the School of Open Cohesion project aims to raise awareness of cohesion policy among young people. It deepens their understanding of how it works and affects local communities and serves as a platform for practical research. As part of the project, young participants have chosen EU-funded projects from different parts of Slovenia to discover and better understand the impacts of these investments on the ground.
Here are some of the projects the students have chosen to explore.
The Door to Pomurje
By promoting the Pomurje region, the project enhances the attractiveness of the destination. The students will discover how the project brings local actors together and how it fosters sustainable tourism. They will also find out how effective it is at that.
Development of the Intermediate Care Department of the Murska Sobota General Hospital
After the renovation of the intermediate care department, the Murska Sobota General Hospital will get modern facilities boasting advanced equipment and services for admitted patients who require prolonged non-acute health care. The students will discover how the project improves the quality of health services in the Pomurje region.
Reconstruction and Upgrade of the Ormož Wastewater Treatment Plant
The environmental project that aims to contribute to a healthier living environment and improves wastewater treatment infrastructure has caught the attention of young researchers who are interested in discovering its long-term environmental impact.
The Cukrarna Gallery
The former Ljubljana-based sugar factory underwent major renovation and restoration that were funded by the EU. It was transformed into a modern cultural hub that serves as an event venue and exhibition space. The students will look into the contribution made by the gallery to the capital’s vibrant cultural life and increased number of visitors.
The Koper Central Park
The Koper-based project is an excellent example of open urban space regeneration. The young will explore how the park improves the life of locals. They will also analyze its contribution to sustainable development.
Renovation of the Vergerijev trg 3 Building
Major renovation will breathe new life into this Koper-based historic building that will be converted for a new purpose. The students will explore the impact of the project on the revitalization of the city centre.
The Learning Lab at the Nova Gorica School Centre
