EU funding for the renovation of the Trg Evrope square
The Ministry of Cohesion and Regional Development has approved EU funding for the ECoC GO!2025 project – Renovation of the Trg Evrope square.
The European Grouping of Territorial Cooperation (EGTC) of municipalities, namely the municipality Comune di Gorizia (Italy), the Urban Municipality of Nova Gorica (Slovenia) and the Municipality of Šempeter-Vrtojba (Slovenia) (EGTC GO) will redevelop the area between Nova Gorica and Gorizia as part of the EU co-financed project. The aim is to create a physical and symbolic space to foster wider intercultural cooperation and, in this context, to develop areas that will allow the implementation of programmes of public interest, the GO!2025 programmes and the organisation of various cultural, social and educational events. The project will result in the renovation of an area of 4,239 square metres. This will create a cross-border public space for all local residents, visitors and tourists, and create a clearly identifiable urban area linking two urban entities.
The ECOC GO!2025 project – Renovation of the Trg Evrope Square is implemented under priority Sustainable development of local areas of Slovenia’s EU Cohesion Policy Programme 2021-2027 and pursues specific objective Fostering the integrated and inclusive social, economic and environmental development, culture, natural heritage, sustainable tourism, and security in urban areas.
The project worth 1.913.080,52 euros will receive a 765.232,21 euros contribution from the European Regional Development Fund.
