€2.8 million in EU funding for companies and their research and development projects

Ljubljana, 1 October 2025 – The Ministry of Cohesion and Regional Development has approved EU funding for a call for proposals for Important Projects of Common European Interest in the field of batteries and innovations related to battery technologies – the EuBatIn project.

The call for proposals will co-finance the implementation of research and development projects by independent companies or consortia of companies involved in an important project of common European interest in the field of batteries – IPCEI EuBatIn. Co-financed projects must fall within the focus areas or product lines of at least one of Slovenia’s priority domains outlined in its Sustainable Smart Specialisation Strategy (S5). The call for proposals will contribute to strengthening Europe’s capacity to establish and increase the EU’s autonomy and resilience in the field of a stable, sustainable, innovative, and competitive value chain related to batteries and innovations in battery technologies.

The call for proposals for the EuBatIn projects is implemented under Slovenia’s EU Cohesion Policy Programme 2021-2027, priority Innovative knowledge-based society and pursues the specific objective Developing and enhancing research and innovation capacities and the uptake of advanced technologies.

The bulk of the funding for the project, worth €4 million, will come from the European Regional Development Fund, i.e. €2.8 million.

The call for proposals, which contributes to meeting the objectives set out in Slovenia’s EU Cohesion Policy Programme 2021-2027, will be published by the Ministry of the Economy, Tourism and Sport in the Official Gazette of the Republic of Slovenia on 3 October 2025.
