The Ministry of Local Self-Government, Cohesion and Regional Development has approved EU funding for a project supporting the development of a new cycling route in the Municipality of Kočevje. The project will receive over €1 million from the Cohesion Fund.
As part of the project, a 1,785-metre dedicated cycling path will be constructed between Kočevje and the settlement of Cvišlerji. The path will run alongside the local road connecting the two settlements, thereby significantly improving connectivity between Kočevje and its hinterland. It will enhance accessibility for cyclists and, above all, improve road safety. The project aims to encourage cycling for everyday journeys, making sustainable mobility a more attractive option for residents. By promoting active travel, it will contribute to a healthier lifestyle and help reduce the environmental impact of transport.
The €1,354,416.59 project will be implemented under Slovenia’s EU Cohesion Policy Programme 2021-2027. It will receive €1,092,818.95 from the Cohesion Fund. The beneficiary of the funding is the Urban Municipality of Kočevje.
