EU funding for advancing sustainable mobility: Regional integrated transport strategy of the Posavje region

Ljubljana, 7 January 2026 – The Ministry of Cohesion and Regional Development has approved EU funding for the project Agreement on the development of the region: Regional integrated transport strategy Posavje region. Strategic planning will be supported by the Cohesion Fund.

The regional integrated transport strategy is a comprehensive development project that complements planning at the local and national level. Its aim is to lay down effective, inclusive, and sustainable, environmentally friendly transport solutions tailored to the needs of the residents of the Posavje region.

The main objectives of the project are as follows:

  • Improving the quality of life and promote economic development in the region.
  • Identifying key challenges related to accessibility and transport safety.
  • Reducing environmental burden in the Posavje region.
  • Laying the foundation for a balanced development of transport, mobility and spatial policies.

The €100,000 project will receive €68,000 from the European Union’s Cohesion Fund.

The project is part of the Agreement on the development of the Posavje region. It will be implemented in the framework of Slovenia’s EU Cohesion Policy Programme 2021-2027 under priority Sustainable (cross-)regional mobility and connectivity.
