The Ministry of Local Self-Government, Cohesion and Regional Development has approved EU funding for drinking water supply in the Drava River basin, specifically in the Ormož area, for 2021-2027. The Cohesion Fund contribution exceeds €2.4 million.

The investment will improve the condition of the water supply infrastructure and ensure a high-quality and safe supply of drinking water in the municipalities of Ormož, Središče ob Dravi, and Sveti Tomaž. As part of the project, a total of 15.20 kilometres of the water supply network will be modernised, and the Lešniški vrh water reservoir, the Litmerk tower reservoir, and the Lešnica and Lešniški vrh pumping stations will be reconstructed. The pumping station on the Formin Hydroelectric Power Plant canal and the Lahkonci high-pressure zone will also be upgraded, with the latter receiving a new pressure-boosting station. The improved water supply infrastructure will ensure a safer and higher-quality drinking water supply for 15,914 residents in the three municipalities.

The project is implemented under Slovenia’s EU Cohesion Policy Programme 2021-2027 and will receive Cohesion Fund support.

The Cohesion Fund contribution to the project, worth €6,018,863.25, stands at €2,433,756. 87. The ministry responsible for the implementation of the project is the Ministry of the Environment and Spatial Planning. The beneficiaries are the municipalities of Ormož, Središče ob Dravi and Sveti Tomaž.
