The Ministry of Local Self-Government, Cohesion and Regional Development has approved EU funding for greening the Municipality of Gorišnica. The project will receive €800 thousand from the European Regional Development Fund.
The project aims to create a greener, more pleasant and healthier living environment in the Municipality of Gorišnica. Planting new trees, shrubs, and other plants will improve air quality, reduce noise, and increase plant and animal diversity in the community. The project will renovate and connect thirteen nearby green and public spaces in the centre of the municipality, including areas where new housing, a fire station, and a preschool are being built.
Residents and visitors will have more opportunities to relax, play, socialise, recreate and learn outdoors. Special attention will be given to safe pedestrian connections and accessibility for people with reduced mobility. The project connects key locations in the municipality, such as the school, kindergarten, church, and market, and unites them into a cohesive and functional whole. Native plant species will be primarily used in the landscaping, while existing vegetation will be carefully preserved, contributing to sustainable development and the conservation of the natural environment.
