EU funding for improved pedestrian and cyclist safety in Novo mesto

Ljubljana, 14 May 2025 – The Ministry of Cohesion and Regional Development has approved EU funding for the project ITI Urban Municipality of Novo mesto Seidlova cesta road.

As part of the EU-funded project, Novo mesto will see a new bus stop designed and implemented at the junction of the Seidel cesta road and Koštialova ulica street. The reconstruction of the Seidel cesta road will include a newly developed 570-meter-long pedestrian and bike path extending from the junction with the Cankarjeva ulica street towards Ločna. These measures will help improve pedestrian and cyclist safety, reduce negative environmental impacts of motorised traffic and encourage more people to choose cycling and walking over driving for everyday commuting.

The project will be carried out in the scope of Slovenia’s EU Cohesion Policy Programme 2021-2027, under priority Sustainable urban mobility. It will pursue specific objective Promoting sustainable multimodal urban mobility, as part of transition to a net zero carbon economy.

The 1,236.557.03 project will receive €835,556.68 from the European Regional Development Fund.As part of the EU-funded project,
