EU funding for the development of a public park in Semič

The Ministry of Cohesion and Regional Development has approved EU funding for the project Development of a park by the Semič Cultural Centre. The European Regional Development Fund will support the project with over €600,000.

As part of the project, a new public park will be developed in Semič. It will be designed as a recreational space fostering social interaction and experiential learning in nature. The park will also be used as a venue hosting a variety of outdoor cultural activities. It will boast open green infrastructure featuring pathways, landscaped green areas, and multifunctional activity spaces. Its design will be based on sustainable and environmentally friendly solutions complemented by digital features. It will be built on the site of a former grassy playground in the town centre of Semič.

The project aims to improve the quality of public space and enhance access to green areas in the municipal centre. It will contribute to the greening of the town, foster intergenerational cooperation, support the inclusion of vulnerable groups, and provide spaces for leisure, recreation, and cultural activities. In addition, it will encourage the local community to take an active role in the planning and use of green spaces.

The €1,367,928.23 project will be implemented under Slovenia’s EU Cohesion Policy Programme 2021–2027. It will receive €607,661.36 from the European Regional Development Fund. The beneficiary of the funds will be the Municipality of Semič.
