The objective of the project is to achieve the standards of Technical Specifications for Interoperability (TSIs) for structural sub-systems and to meet the requirements of the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T). The investments will also lower the costs of railway infrastructure maintenance, increase transport safety due to the construction of an underpass and non-level access to platforms, and reduce the negative environmental impact by following mitigation measures and constructing an anti-noise barrier in the length of 1.275 kilometres. The project will also provide a park-and-ride system and ensure safe public passenger transport stations.
The first stage of the project will include the installation of more efficient upper structure elements, the construction of a new covered platform infrastructure and a new underpass under all station tracks, which will provide non-level access to the new island platform. The overhead contact line network, telecommunications and signalling and safety installations will also be upgraded, improving the reliability and safety of rail traffic. The investment is key for improving the railway infrastructure and will have a positive impact on mobility, safety and the environment.
The project worth 43,177,946 euros will receive a Cohesion Fund Contribution of 22,813,032.58 euros.
