Cukrarna Gallery

We renovated the Cukrarna building, a former sugar factory, and established the Cukrarna Gallery, which has provided the city with its largest exhibition space suitable even for large and complex exhibitions as well as a venue for cultural, artistic, and educational events. We have also enhanced the social aspect of the space’s use; following the project’s completion, the area, with its new features and improvements, has become a dynamic, programme-rich, and socially vibrant space that is safer and more pleasant, and one that invites both residents and visitors to Ljubljana to return time and again. By renovating the existing building and landscaping the surrounding area, we have improved the urban environment and further revitalised the broader city centre. We have also removed a physical barrier that hindered mobility on this section of Poljanski nasip embankment, thereby enabling the optimal connection between the city centre and the urbanised areas to the east of the city.
