Based on the experience and the achieved results by KOC in the 2007-2013 programming period, a new programme KOC 2014-2020 was designed.
For the 2014–2020 programming period, €12.2 million was allocated for the KOC programme. Implementation is divided into two phases. The first phase was completed in June 2019, when 17 KOCs were funded, involving 307 companies with 49,289 employees. Approximately €5 million was allocated for this phase. A total of 38,016 employees participated in the training. €7 million has been allocated for the implementation of the second phase of the operation, which will run through October 2022. As part of this, 10 KOCs were selected through a call for proposals totalling €5.5 million. Companies are grouping within specific economic sectors or within the scope of the Smart Specialisation Strategy. Through the project, they get an opportunity to train employees according to the company’s needs. With the help of experts, a competency model is developed to identify the greatest gaps, and a training plan for employees is prepared. Companies receive between 50% and 70% co-financing for training, while the activities of the project office, which manages training and represents the interests of individual companies in the partnership, are fully funded. The remaining €1.5 million is earmarked for programme implementation (the beneficiary is the Public Scholarship, Development, Disability, and Maintenance Fund of the Republic of Slovenia) and adult education organised by the fund under the Competent Slovenia programme.
KOC’s partnerships cover a very broad spectrum, namely from the food industry, construction, the circular economy, tourism, toolmaking, logistics, the chemical industry, the electrical industry, computing, municipal services, KOC for smart cities and communities, advanced information and telecommunications systems, ski resorts, biotechnology and pharmaceuticals, private security, materials development, and advanced technologies in the factories of the future.
