Representatives of the Ministry of Cohesion and Regional Development presented the Cohesion Policy implementation system in the 2021-2027 period. Representatives of intermediate bodies, i.e. line ministries implementing Cohesion Policy, as well as representatives of the Court of Audit and Budget Supervision Office attended the presentation.

The aim of the meeting was to present the guidelines and to align the stakeholders involved in the implementation of Cohesion Policy. Dr Aleksander Jevšek delivered introductory remarks, taking stock of the work already done and concrete progress achieved while outlining future procedures and steps to be taken. The Minister said that the first calls for proposals in the 2021-2027 programming period are expected to be out in a few weeks’ time: ”Five ministries have already announced their calls for proposals making 102 million euros available.”

According to the Minister, the Ministry plans 600 million euros worth of calls for proposals by the end of the year. If this goes according to the plan, it would be a very good start to the 2021-2027 programming period in which Slovenia has to spend 3.2 billion euros in Cohesion Policy funding by the end of 2029.

Dr Jevšek also explained that intensive work is underway to successfully close the 2014-2020 programming period. He highlighted that at the level of payments made, the country recorded a 89% rate, which currently puts it in 6th place among all member states.
